The East-West Center (EWC) Graduate Degree Fellowship provides master’s and doctoral funding for students to participate in a unique blend of academic, cultural, and leadership programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM). The fellowship is an experience to prepare future leaders through collaborative learning and cultural exchange.

Eligibility:

  1. Citizenship: Individuals from multiple countries, including Afghanistan, are eligible.
  2. Education: Must have a 4-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent. A minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0=A scale) or equivalent in the last four semesters of undergraduate study and all post-baccalaureate work is required.
  3. Other Requirements: Must apply for a graduate program at the University of Hawai‘i and complete the necessary supporting documents for university and EWC applications by January 10, 2024.

Fellowship Benefits:

  1. Covers general tuition and fees for UHM graduate programs.
  2. Provides for books, EWC dormitory housing, and a portion of meals, health insurance, and incidental costs.
  3. Potential additional funds for field studies and conference presentations based on competitive criteria.
