Second edition of the OSCE Women’s Peace Leadership Programme

The OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid has the pleasure of announcing the call for applications for the second edition of the OSCE Women’s Peace Leadership Programme. The program, which is one of the flagship activities of the OSCE Networking Platform of Women leaders including Peacebuilders and Mediators, will run from October 2023 to June 2024. The second edition of the Leadership Programme will include up to 16 women who are active in peacebuilding, conflict resolution and/or conflict prevention in the OSCE area with the aim to strengthen the participants’ ability to meaningfully engage and influence peace processes at all levels. The programme will also develop the participants’ leadership and communication skills and support their career development.
The detailed modules and activities of the programme will be designed after individual interviews with the selected participants to ensure these meet their needs. However, participants will benefit from:

  1. Individual mentoring sessions with women professionals with significant experience of engaging in mediation, peace negotiations, conflict resolution, conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts.
  2. Tailored career coaching sessions and peer-to-to peer exchanges on peace and security topics
  3. Opportunities to engage with decision-makers and other influential actors working in peace processes.
  4. Training on topics such as conflict analysis, negotiation and mediation, communication, and leadership, building resilience, etc.
  5. Networking events with peers and mentors and a support community
  6. A Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) to cover the costs of travel, food and accommodation when attending programme events in person.
Selection criteria:
  1. You are a female citizen of an OSCE participating State or from Afghanistan and have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with peacebuilding, conflict resolution and/or conflict prevention efforts in one or more of the three tracks. This can include work on mediation, negotiation, dialogue facilitation and cross-conflict dialogue/confidence-building.
  2. Currently involved in working in the OSCE area in those fields or in Afghanistan (if you are an Afghan citizen)
  3. Good working professional knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  4. Clear interest in and commitment to strengthening engagement in peacebuilding, conflict resolution and/or conflict prevention.
  5. Clear motivation and availability to commit to participating in the entire programme, which will include the following components:
    1. Monthly online workshops of 2 hours
    2. One-week full-time training in Vienna, Austria
    3. Virtual individual sessions as well as group sessions with the mentors and trainers
    4. (1h/monthly)
    5. Two-day concluding event/training in Vienna
Current employees of the OSCE Secretariat, Institutions or Field Operations or participants from the first edition of the OSCE Women’ s Peace Leadership Programme are not eligible to apply.
